Can I get a Quote Please?

Since joining Pinterest, I have found myself enjoying way too many new foods, organizing tips, outfit ideas, you name it.  When you join, you can make something called ‘boards’ for yourself.  This is a way to categorize you pins.  I currently have 23 boards.

Yes. 23.  At first,  I had one board labeled ‘For The Home’. This worked out great until I started to have too many bedrooms, laundry rooms, bathrooms, etc.  Then I had to go back, re-make new boards for each section of my dream home, and re-label them to new boards.

Tonight, as I’m currently pausing during my typing to try and smash a fruit fly flying in front of this screen, I’m going to share some of my favorite pins from my ‘Quotes’ board.

Like this:

And then there was this one just now:

Oh man, ain’t that the truth?  I find that as I pin quotes, I may have to separate them.

One board for funny, make me laugh quotes.  One board for ahhhh, sweet quotes.

Like this one:

When I saw this, I just about started crying, weeping, sobbing.  I have a 2 and a half year old.

Yesterday he did this to himself.

How could I not laugh?  How could I not think he’s too cute for doing it?

Or what about this?

‘Gee Mom, Elsie doesn’t mind if I try to crash my airplane into her, right?’

‘Uuuuhhh…what’cha thinking about doing there Hank?’

‘Ok, fine, just do whatever you want.  I’m going to go back to sunbathing.’

Finally, this quote is just perfect to remind us what being a parent is all about:

The Help

Has anyone read The Help?  My mom gave it to me about a year ago, I started to read it then got disstracted and never got past the 2nd chapter.  This happens a lot with me these days.  After hearing The Help is going to be a movie, I really want to read it first.  I’m a huge believer that the book is always better than the movie.  How about you?

So, this week, as much as I love Pinterest, I am going to force myself to go back to doing something I’ve loved much longer than pinning…reading a ‘real’ book.  I want to make sure I’m reading a book that engages my mind, has me thinking about it when I’m not reading it, and that keeps me going.  I hope I picked a good one.

Any input or suggestions for other great fictional reads would be great!

Favorite Finds on Pinterest

Once you get going on Pinterest, it’s hard to stop.  I find myself awake long past my bedtime, when the house is quiet, pinning random things I see and love.   I wanted to share some of my favorite pins from today.  This one is my all-time favorite.

I am always telling myself that I need to document my childen’s lives better.  I need to take more pictures.  I need to write down more things they say.  I need to do so much more for them and with them.  When I saw this photo on Pinterest, I knew immediately that I wanted to start doing this for my kids.  I’ll have to get together with Fleming Photo Studio again for some more shots.

For my 5 year old, I would have to change it up a bit, naturally.  His would read:

Age 5

loves swimming, his daddy, his brother, scootering, camping, Legos, trains, making cookies, pistachios

For my 2 year old, his would read something like this:

Age 2

loves his mama (he’s a going through a long seperation anxiety stage when I leave the room right now), his brother, food, cars, mama’s iphone, wrestling, food, copying big brother, food

A couple weeks ago, I came across a list of the Top Children’s booklist for preschoolers.  At the top was Winnie the Pooh.  I decided to pull out my old copy and start reading it.  We read about 3-4 page a night, usually until the 2 year old starts climbing all over us and big brother gets distracted.  Since the movie came out, I thought what a wonderful book to read before we go see it.  Naturally, Pinterest is full of Pooh items.

Lake Wenatchee Camping Trip

We had a nice, rainy, three day weekend spent over at Lake Wenatche State Park this weekend.  The words ‘nice’ and ‘rainy’ don’t really work for me these days.   With the past 8-10 months being some of the rainiest I have ever encountered while living over here on the ‘West Side’, I thought for sure that is would be nice over on the other side of the Cascades.  Boy, was I wrong.  But, at least we all felt at home while camping.  You know this Happy Camper necklace I’m giving away over at The Northwest Camper?

Well, I wore mine all weekend, to remind me that even though it was raining, I had to be a ‘happy camper’.  It worked.  Part of the time.

Now, I’m ready for another three day weekend.  Only this time, I think I’m camping here:

 I wish.

In the meantime, I’ll continue to be a happy camper, I’ll continue to waste precious time on Pinterest, and I’ll continue to dream of sunny weather here in Western Washington.

OH, and you can head on over to The Northwest Camper and enter for one of my necklace.  Ends Tuesday.  Click HERE to enter.

Pinterest Love

Uhmmmm…seriously?  I haven’t posted in how long?  Too long, I know.  The past month has been crazy in the personal life department.  Anniversary, Father’s Day, New nephew being born, Mr. Farmer’s Birthday, Fourth of July, Son’s Birthday (today he turned 5!!!).  This has consumed every weekend since last month.   Along with all that excitement, I found a new love.  Let me tell you about it….

When I was growing up, my mom had these big binders.  You know, the big 4″ 3-ring binders.  Whenever she would read through a home magazine, she would pull out any pictures she loved and put them in these binders.  She still has them to this day.  They were her wish books.  Things she wanted to make, build, cook, you name it.  It was her way of remembering the things she loved and being able to go back and review them.  Great idea.

Now, that idea is online.   It’s a site that many of you have heard about.  It’s a site that I’m currently addicted to into the wee hours of the night.  It’s called…Pinterest.   A place to ‘pin’ the things that interest you.  A place to journal your favorite things.   Like this laundry room….

Is this too much to ask for?  Maybe right now, but maybe not in 10 years.  So, I pinned it to one of my boards so I can go back and reference it someday.   Would my Mrs. Jones Soapbox laundry detergent look fantastic in this room?  You betcha!!

Not only will you find home decor on Pinterest, you will find almost anything else on there too.  Like these…

Do these not look fantastic????

If you want a new addiction.  If you need need another time-sucker online, visit Pinterest.  Join.  They have to send you an invite, but you’ll get one, don’t worry (I think).  You can follow my pins/boards by going to www.pinterest.com/betsyfarmer

Gotta go.  Gotta go pin more.
