There are a few movies (ok, maybe a lot) that I could repeat almost all the lines of. Sound of Music is definitely one. Cutting edge? Yup. Three Men and a Baby? Yup. Notting Hill? Duh.
So, these are a few of my favorite things around the Etsy world this week….(hear the music in your head? I do). Click on the image to see their shops.
Also, don’t forget to enter my giveaway on this blog and over on Ali’s blog this week.
Have a happy Saturday. Get outside. Breathe some fresh air. Kiss your babies.
Today’s been packed full of Friday type things that I can’t believe I’m just now getting around to posting about this. So, ya’ll know I am running a giveaway on this blog for some yummy treats, right? Of course you did. If not, click here to enter.
If you just so happen to not be into sweets. Or you are but want some jewelry instead. Or you’re greedy and want to win both (come on…does it get better than both?)….then head on over to Ali’s blog to enter a giveaway she’s doing for my shop! I’m giving away my very popular ‘double circle’ mom necklace.
Why the mom one? Well, remember this apron?
My mom bought this for me. My mom who supports me in all that I do. My mom who is one of the most creative women I know. For years I figured I didn’t get her creative side but then realized that I did. My mom…a wonderful mom (and Nana!). Oh, and I figured with Mother’s day around the corner, someone could win a great gift idea to give to their own wonderful mom. Or keep for themselves. I won’t judge.
Have a wonderful Friday night. I’m off to glue myself to Flying Wild Alaska (remember this post?).
I was featured in such a sweet collection of Etsy finds this morning. A treasury called, ‘Baby Love”.
All these items featured in the treasury are so cute and adorable that if I had girls, I’d be seriously shopping! I’ve told my husband that if we had a girl, we’d be broke.
How do women hold themselves back from all of this?
Oh. My. Deery.
Remember my post earlier this month that featured those gorgeous orange and chocolate shortbread? Yup, these ones…
Well, did you know this shop also has these beauties?
Is your mouth watering yet? Are you frantically looking around your kitchen and pantry, looking for something that looks half as good as these to eat right now? I might be…
The owner of the shop Scrumptulicious by Ink and Paper Arts asked me if I’d like to do a giveaway from her shop.
‘Are you serious?’, you ask?
Yes, I sure am!
And the best part is that not only is she giving away one kind of cookie, she’s giving away a sample box! Yup. As seen at Saveur.com too!
And…guess what? I get to pick not one but two winners!!!! Oh. My. Goodness.
Now you’re probably wondering how to win, right? You’ve got a couple ways, for a total of 3 entries each:
1. Leave a comment on this blog telling me what your favorite cookie is. I don’t care if it’s frosted animal cookies, girl scout cookies, or your mama’s cookies, just let me know.
2. Like me on facebook and leave another comment on this blog that you ‘liked’ me. Already ‘like’ me? Great, just leave a separate comment that you do.
3. Like Scrumptulicious on facebook and leave another comment (on this blog) that you ‘liked’ her.
This giveaway will run until the end of the month. If you win, I’ll post it on my facebook page and also on here. Then we’ll go from there to get your cookies sent to you.
Here in Western Washington, we don’t wake up to beautiful snow days very often. Maybe once or twice a year. Today is one of those days. All the rooftops, fenceposts, roads, and everything else are covered in a beautiful blanket of fresh snow. I’m thinking a snowman may have to be made today.
It must be the snow flurries in the air today that had me making a flower necklace to try and bring on Spring weather. That and the fact that my son keeps talking about his friend Sophia. They are both four years old and what better age than to have him start planning on giving girls jewelry. Win ’em early little man!
You can find this darling flower necklace in my shop if you’d like to few more details of it.
This one is new today too…
My friend sent me a message the other night, asking if I was going to the Ruffles and Rust show.
The what? Ruffles and Rust? What’s that? Well, little did I know it was a FANTASTIC vintage antique show about a mile from my house. I don’t get out much, can you tell? So, mom and I strapped the kiddos in their strollers and off we went to find some goodies. We were both drawn to a vendor selling linen clothes, pillows, and other items. I loved her simple lines, classic style, and fresh ideas. Up front and almost center, was this wonderful apron that pretty much screamed my name. I introduced myself to the vendor and found out she also sells her items on Etsy. Her shop name is Spool and Sparrow. We talked for a little while and traded business cards. Then mom, the kids, and I were on our way. After a few minutes, mom slipped away for a minute and came back with ‘The Apron’ we were both drooling over. Now my apron. My apron to drool over. My apron that I’ll be too afraid to wear in case I get it stained. It’s perfect. Thank you mom!
After coming home and looking through Spool and Sparrow’s shop, I wanted to feature another item I loved.
Her vintage trailer towels. And after deciding to do a camping treasury, it was fun to put together and find new camping items for it. Click here to view more. Enjoy.
I received a new matching upper and lowercase typewriter font a little while ago and wanted to try it out. While thinking of the perfect word to stamp, the word ‘dream’ came to my mind. Sometimes I feel like I’m living a dream. I have a loving husband, healthy and happy kids and get to stay home everyday to watch them grow up. My dream was always to be able to stay with my babies. This necklace is a reminder that if you dream and follow your dreams, anything is possible.
Some dreams may be bigger than others. Some may be small…like dreaming of having that perfect cup of coffee on a cold winter day.
This is a simple picture found on Etsy that would also be a great reminder to dream big. Found at the shop, Magalerie, which is based in Paris. Oh, now there’s another dream…visiting the wonderful places in their photos sold on Etsy.
Here’s another photo sold in their shop….can I go here for the weekend and find that perfect cup of coffee?
What’s your dream? Big or small…I’d love to know.
I’ve been featured in some wonderful treasuries lately that I wanted to share the love and create one also. Now, what to choose for a theme can be my hardest part when making a treasury. I was sitting here, thinking and thinking about what to do, when my dog popped in my head. We have a whippet named Elsie and she’s 6.5 years old. What better thing than to make a treasury that features some of her favorite things!

Here’s one of my favorites. Simple. Unique. From the shop Edwyn UK.
Then, who could ever resist these truffles???????? Made by Po’s Bag of Bones Bakery. Oh wait, those are beef truffles???? Shoot. My mouth is still watering. Not good.
Anyways, check out this treasury for more fun, doggy things.
Here are the first random things that popped in my head while typing this:
1. I hardly ever wear my hair down. I think it comes from years of dental assisting and having to wear it up. Drives me a little crazy after about an hour if it’s down.
2. I used to be a dental assistant to the nicest, best dentist around. I miss talking with her.
3. I stopped dental assisting when my son was born. Now he talks to me all day long. All day.
4. I love a good book, but hardly have time to read a good book.
5. I want a goat. I used to have goats but now live in a neighborhood. I think my neighbors would complain if I had a goat.
6. I love the new show ‘Flying Wild Alaska’. By love, I mean LOVE! Finally something to watch on Friday nights and I am engrossed in it the whole time.
7. I also love Steven Tyler on Idol. Or any anywhere else.
8. I love to fly-fish with my husband. Never tried it without him, so maybe I’d love to fish alone too. Oh wait, never mind, that would mean I’d have to touch the fish I catch. Better keep fishing with him.
9. My husband was my brother’s best friend first. Watch out readers of daughter’s with older sons!
10. I ran a marathon 10 years ago and hate running. Don’t ask.
