Special Requests

Have I ever said how much I love special requests?  The fact that someone loved my style of stamping and came to me to ask them to create a one of a kind piece is just another reason I love making these.   I had a mom down south who contacted me to make a  ‘pocket piece’, she called it.  She wanted to give one to her husband and one to the godfather of her daughter.  They are having a ceremony this weekend and she wanted them pretty quick.  I’m always happy when I have the materials on hand to make special requests and I love how these turned out.

She wanted a disc with a cross in the middle, her daughter’s name below that, and the recipients name above the cross.  I gave these pieces hammered edges and then a light hammered finish on the front.  I hope these men enjoy these pieces forever and know they’ll think of Miss Sarah Rose when they hold them.

New Office!

Here it is! My new office! If you ever wonder again (like you ever wondered in the first place) where your jewelry got it’s finishing touches, now you’ll know. I am in love with it. The color is perfect, the space is perfect, and it’s my own little haven. You’ll find me here after the kids go to bed, with my cup of tea and my little lamp on. Love it…(sigh)…

All the food got shifted to under the stairs (behind my chair) and the walls got painted (thanks mom) a gorgeous light dusty blue.

Old Office

Just thought I’d show the world a picture of our pantry.  Well, what used to be our pantry.  Pretty bad, huh?  During the holiday shopping season in my shop, I found myself putting orders together all over our kitchen and dining area.  Jewelry boxes, packing envelopes, invoices…they were everywhere.  I had to find a solution to this dilemma.  I starting thinking.  That’s usually not a good thing when I start thinking too much…then I get tunnel vision and can’t seem to stop.

The kids want me downstairs while I’m working.  I totally agree.  I can’t work from home and be a mom at the same time if I’m not with them.  Doesn’t work.  So, I had to find a solution to this problem of needing an official ‘work space’ downstairs.

So, take a long, hard look at the pantry (if you dare).  Tomorrow, I’ll introduce you to my new (downstairs) office.

Welcome to Betsy Farmer Designs

Welcome to Betsy’s blog!  Last year, I ventured into the big world of Etsy and haven’t looked back.  My shop’s name is BetsyFarmerDesigns and I make hand stamped jewelry.  I strive to make my jewelry different than other hand stamped jewelry and love what I’m doing.  My favorite thing about my ‘job’ is hearing the stories behind each necklace or piece someone is getting.  Some are sad, some are happy, some are even funny.  Whether you want something to celebrate a new life or a lost one, I hope people can find some peace in wearing their personal piece.  There’s just something about wearing your loved one’s name close to your heart.  I know I find myself reaching up to my necklace throughout the day and just feeling my kids’ names on it.

This blog is hopefully going to give you a look into my work life.  Oh sure, there may be some personal things thrown in there on occasion.  There will definitely be  giveaways, design ideas, and more fun things to come our way.  Grab a cup of tea, coffee, or whatever your thing is and join me.

Happy Reading!
